The Marlins English Language Tests are vocational tests of English, specifically designed for different sectors within the shipping and offshore industries by Marlins, maritime language and training experts.
The three online tests we offer are:
- The ICS Marlins English Language Test for Seafarers - for seafarers of all levels, departments and specialisations
- The Marlins English Language Test for Offshore Workers – for offshore workers of all positions
- The Marlins English Language Test for Cruise Ship Staff – for marine hotel personnel working on cruise vessels.
The tests can be used to screen candidates and employees for their level of competency in listening and understanding for many purposes, including meeting required competency levels, checking levels of English for promotion, establishing common group levels for teaching and so on. The content is relevant to all personnel in the specified sector: for the offshore and seafarers tests, safety features as a predominant theme to provide a broad context for language testing. However, as this is not a test of job related competence, we avoid testing language which is very specific to particular job functions.
Tests are purchased through the Marlins Online Test Platform (www.marlinstests.com) using a credit or debit card transaction and the tests are carried out online.
